On June 9-12 the Bonnaroo Festival will celebrate its 10th Anniversary of rocking hard with headliners such as Eminem, Arcade Fire, Widespread Panic, Neil Young, The Black Keys and Lil Wayne.
And the list goes on and on... 163 artists long to be exact.
Since 2002 music lovers from all over travel miles upon miles to watch the most diverse set of music's best artists, young and old.
The first edition of Bonnaroo featured big name artists such as Widespread Panic, Ben Harper, Trey Anastasio, Jack Johnson, John Butler Trio, Jurassic 5 and Blackalicious. The 2011 lineup has come a long way since the 2002. The 2002 lineup featured 50 artists. Of those 50, only Jurassic 5 and Blackalicious categorized themselves as hip-hop/rap artists.
Last year's Festival featured big hip-hop/rap artists such as Nas with Damien Marley, Kid Cudi, B.o.B. and Jay-Z. This year's lineup goes even further into traditionalizing hip-hop/rap into Bonnaroo.
The 2011 hip-hop/rap groups are diverse in their own respect. Eminem and Lil Wayne are obviously headlining the show, but behind them are well-known artists/groups Wiz Khalifa, Chiddy Bang, J.Cole and Atmosphere. Other diverse hip-hop artists include an italian singer/song writer rapper Jovanotti; the comedian, writer, actor, rapper Donald Glover; the alternative hip-hop artist G-Love and Special Sauce; and the alternative hip-hop with rock and electronic music influence, The Knux.
Outside of hip-hop, Bonnaroo has gathered popular names such as The Strokes, My Morning Jacket, Mumford & Sons, Buffalo Springfield, Girl Talk, Iron & Wine, and many many others.
Unfortunately, tickets have already sold out for the summer festival. If you are dying to go, head to Manchester, Tennessee on June 9 in attempt to scalp. Good Luck
