Kid Cudi became a rap sensation seemingly overnight after the release of his first hit single Day n’ Night and his debut album Man the Moon. However, now he says he is “over rapping” and Lil’ Wayne is not the only rap star turning rock.

Kid Cudi is promoting his newest project and says that he is changing up his act. He will now be the lead singer for a rock group called The Wizards after the release of his next album. Many Cudi fans are saddened to hear that he has suddenly lost his love for hip hop music. He recently revealed his dilemma in a recent interview with MTV News.

“I’m just over rapping. I don’t get any fulfillment out of it anymore,” admits Kid Cudi. “I really don’t get any fulfillment out of writing a 16. That’s why you never really hear me on Kanye joints like that…I’m more passionate when he be like ‘yo Cudi come up with a hook!’ Because he asks me to put verses down and I’ll try to procrastinate or disappear or something.”

Apparently, writing 16 bars has become a heavy burden for the “moon man”. Instead, he has turned to learning to play the guitar.

“I get more fulfillment now out of singing and learning to play the guitar. That’s my newfound love; I just never thought I could play an instrument.”

Not only has Cudi given up on the rap game he has ventured into a new genre. After the drop of his next album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager on November 9th, he will join The Wizards. Even though Kid Cudi has always had a unique sound that didn’t always fit the hip hop/rap mold, not all Cudi fans are thrilled about his recent decision. It will be interesting to see how his endeavor pans out.
