DJ Akademiks Apologises to Jay-Z And Roc Nation
In the music industry, hip hop is a genre like no other. From block parties in the early 90s to multimillion-dollar boardrooms – hip hop has grown to become an economic powerhouse.
But under the big names and designer labels lies a lot of controversy and artistic struggles.
The latest artist on the radar is Livingstone Allen aka DJ Akademics. Anyone who follows the Jamaican-American podcaster closely knows he’s not a Jay-Z fan.
So following the latest fallout between Jay-Z and Canada’s only Graham Drizzy, he had to pick sides and obviously he sided with Drake.
AK Became Vocal With his Criticism
AK openly and loudly criticized Jay-Z citing how he has been receiving goodwill from the hip-hop community at the expense of other artists like Drake.
Earlier in September, he went on a rant to oppose the decision to allow Kendrick Lamar to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Through a post he made on X (formerly twitter), DJ Akademiks accused Jay-Z of helping Drake’s close rival Lamar to headline the event, which was even a bigger version of The Pop Out event.
“The NFL just gave Kendrick Lamar a global ‘Pop Out’ show… Jay Z I see u n****h… u ain’t low…,” read part of AK’s post on X.
Remember Jay-Z’s Roc Nation produces the event, so he has a say on who headlines the show.
AK Changes Tune
Yesterday though, the streamer changed tune and even issued an apology to Jay-Z, the record label, the staff, and the mf crew.
During a live podcast on thursday, Akademiks said he doesn’t want more smoke with Jay and Roc after the way he embarrassed Diddy’s accuser’s lawyer Tony Buzbee.
AK further stated that Jay is a movement and too hard to critique. He couldn’t believe that the lawyer Buzbee was now on the receiving end after he was accused of infecting a woman with a venereal disease.
He issued a public apology which he wanted to go viral and added that he wanted to be part of Roc Nation.
“This is why, I’m telling you,” he said. “I want no smoke with Roc Nation and I issue a formal apology.” DJ Akademiks further stated.
“Jay-Z, I want to be on your team. I wanna be in the camp of the Roc Nation.”
Further, he added that he had no intentions to flip on Tory Lanez, but that he’s “on his own” and he was done talking about it.
