Guests Surprised As Bride And Groom Raps Their Wedding Vows
A pair of hip hop artists decided to tie the knot recently and, well, they went a bit overboard.
Instead of the normal ‘yes I do’, the Tulsa couple decided to rap their wedding vows to the astonishment of the guests, after which, they posted a video of the moments on social media, and it quickly gained massive attention.
This was a plan they made some weeks prior to the wedding day.
The couple, Aaron and Mariah Sawyer wanted to surprise the 100 guests who would sit in front of their yard to witness their special moment.
The couple wanted to break tradition and monopoly, and when the right time came, immediately after signing their papers, they shifted from love to lyrics.
“That’s how we met was through hip hop and rap, so it was perfect,” Mariah Sawyer said.
Video Gains Massive Traction Online
The video of the couple rapping their vows quickly went viral gaining lots of views and reactions on both Tik Tok and Instagram within a few hours.
People had varied opinions in the comments section. Others hated their decision while others loved their boldness and desire to be unique.
Despite the varied opinions, the couple insist they don’t regret their decision and that the reactions and opinions even brought them closer during their honeymoon.
“It’s a testament to how solid our love and relationship is because a lot of people can put a lot of stress on the relationship, getting a bunch of negative comments,” Aaron Sawyer said.
They further slammed naysayers saying they’re living their best moments as hip hop artists.
“Even though people were hating on our wedding vows, we were still living out our dreams as hip hop artists at that same moment, so it was kind of fueling that fire, that passion, that drive to keep being our authentic selves,” she said.
The Newlyweds who now have a plan to produce and release their wedding vow song say this is not the first time they’ve received such reactions as a hip hop couple.
They are however happy and grateful that many people have watched their vows and that it gained massive attention.
“It’s just really allowing people to recognize us as artists in the hip hop scene, so it’s been really impactful,” Mariah Sawyer added.
Aaron and Mariah are upcoming hip hop artists living in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
