Rape Case Against Jay-Z Set to Continue
Jay-Z’s attempts to have a rape case filed against him and P-Diddy dismissed remain unfruitful.
This is after Judge Analisa Torres gave the go-ahead to the case and allowed the accuser who only identifies as Jane Doe for now to continue being anonymous.
The judge delivered such a verdict even after the rap mogul’s legal team asked the court to ask the accuser to disclose her identity.
According to a decision made by the court on Thursday Dec. 26, the judge also condemned the tactics the rap mogul’s team are using to get the case dismissed.
“Carter’s lawyer’s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client. The Court will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it,” the court order read in part.
Jay-Z has in person denied the allegations and demands the alleged accuser to reveal her identity.
Both Diddy and Jay Z Implicated
The case was filed in October against Diddy and another celebrity who was not named. Jay-Z only came to learn that the anonymous celebrity in the court filing was himself after an amendment was done to the lawsuit earlier this month.
The lawsuit accuses the two music powerhouses of raping a 13-year-old girl back in 2000 after the year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
After the amendment, Jay-Z, full name Shawn Corey Carter now becomes the first big-name implicated in the Diddy rape accusations.
Diddy, who is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting trial, has denied three federal charges against him.
The accuser, identified as Doe, details that she was drugged at the party before both men sexually assaulted her after the party.
Inconsistencies In The Accuser’s Story
There has however been inconsistencies in the accuser’s story which she actually admitted in an interview, but still wants to pursue the case.
Based on these accusations, Jay-Z’s legal team asked the court to dismiss the case as it lacks a legal ground and is fraudulent in nature.
Carter’s lead counsel Alex Spiro has accused the accuser through his lawyer Buzbee of extorting his client.
In an unexpected turn of events however, the judge, as part of her ruling, condemned Spiro for making such accusations against Buzzbee.
“Since Carter’s attorney first appeared in this case seventeen days ago, he has submitted a litany of letters and motions attempting to impugn the character of Plaintiff’s lawyer, many of them expounding on the purported ‘urgency’ of this case,” she said in the order.
