Ice Cube just granted Tyler, the Creator his seal of approval, comparing him to rap group, the Pharcyde.

Known for his candidness and everlasting devotion to hip hop, Ice Cube is once again in the spotlight.

The “No Vaseline” rapper has showered praises at Tyler, The Creator for his distinctive and creative approach to the genre, even drawing comparisons to the renowned 90s band the Pharcyde.

Cube talked about the current generation of Los Angeles rappers in an interview with HipHopDX, emphasizing Tyler’s unique style.

Cube declared, “that’s the L.A. that everybody is unaware of.” Extremely imaginative people who refuse to fit in with the gangbanging culture. “They’re going to be themselves.”

Tyler, The Creator: A Contemporary Pharcyde?

He said he was impressed by Tyler’s ability to remain unique despite becoming well-known.

Cube stated, “He reminds me of, like, Pharcyde,” in response to a question about comparisons.

“There are always going to be those bands who will stick to their own style and taste and succeed accordingly.”

Cube, who represented a particular brand of gangster rap, stressed the equal significance of groups such as the Pharcyde to the hip hop identity of Los Angeles.

“Because they’re not conforming, they’re not being what you want them to be. They’re acting authentically. And you must honor that,” he said.

Following an incredible year for Tyler, The Creator, this accolade follows CHROMAKOPIA, his most recent album, a critical and financial success, and last year, he gave a standout performance at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out Show.

When it comes to Kendrick Lamar, Cube has also expressed his admiration for the Compton rapper, especially for his diss song “Not Like Us.”

When Cube told Billboard, “As a hit, it’s humongous,” “It’s excellent as a diss… When you get that combo, it’s difficult to miss. For the ideal diss, this music is ideal.”

Ice Cube’s Respectful Legacy

Ice Cube’s vocal endorsement of Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, The Creator demonstrates his dedication to embracing and valuing a variety of hip-hop sounds.

He is still a strong voice in the genre, and he uses his position to support others who are pushing the envelope and helping the music develop.
