Metro Boomin’s Rented Yacht Bursts Into Flames
According to reports, early Sunday morning, a huge yacht that was reportedly rented out by renowned hip-hop producer Metro Boomin caught fire while moored outside one of Miami’s most well-known strip clubs, Booby Trap On The River.
Only about half an hour after the 95-foot-long boat docked at the adult entertainment club at around three in the morning did the fire start outside the club according to Local10.
The location acknowledged the fire and declared that it had halted operations because of safety concerns raised by the hazardous event.
According to Michael Marhefka, director of security at the Booby Trap on the River, club employees jumped right in to assist in the evacuation of roughly ten individuals on the boat, including Metro Boomin and five crew members.
Marhefka told the local outlet, “The boat pulled up and they were on the boat maybe 30 minutes at the dock and we noticed what sounded like fire alarms going off.”
“When we looked at the boat we did see some smoke inside the boat. We determined to evacuate the boat immediately.” He added. Out of caution, the club was also evacuated because of its proximity to the burning boat.
Vandry King shared a video on Instagram of the frantic fire as strip club patrons and dancers in skimpy attire fled the venue.
What Happened to the Yacht
Following the safe evacuation of all passengers, the fire spread, eventually engulfing the boat and requiring a massive response from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue at approximately 4 a.m.
According to fire officials, over 30 units were dispatched to the scene to assist in putting out the escalating fire, some of which were responding on land and others in fire rescue boats, as reported by NBC 6.
A sizable crowd of onlookers watched in wonder as the fire grew, which officials said was difficult to extinguish due to the yacht’s size and fuel load.
Approximately thirty firefighters arrived on the scene, and at one point they attempted to attack the fires from above using a ladder truck.
Although the crews managed to extinguish the fire, the yacht sank and was deemed a complete loss.
“Because of how much water the vessel took on, she ended up rolling and capsizing at the dock, and unfortunately, taking two pylons with her,” said MDFR spokesperson Nicholas DiGiacomo.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to officials, and no injuries were reported.
After escaping the yacht unscathed, Metro Boomin, who has worked with artists like Travis Scott, Drake, Weeknd, 21 Savage, and Young Thug, has not publicly commented on the incident.
