Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Lawyers Believe ‘freak off’ Videos Don’t Suggest Sex Trafficking
Sean “Diddy” Combs continues to fight back against evidence expected to be used against him during the criminal proceedings in New York in May.
His defense team stated on Tuesday in a petition in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that his counsel had obtained some films of “so-called ‘Freak Off’ tapes.”
They argue, however, that the films submitted by the prosecution involving a person designated as “Victim-1” does not suggest sex trafficking.
Combs’ Lawyers Seek Access to Tapes
The lawyers wants to officially get electronic copies of the tapes, which they believe “confirm Mr. Combs’ innocence” involving “fully consenting adults in a long-term relationship.”
A source with knowledge of the matter argues Combs’ legal team can only examine the tapes “in the presence of a government representative and can see them but cannot keep them.”
The paper indicates the tapes were not part of the searches done on Combs’ houses last year but were preserved by “Victim-1” and supplied to the authorities as part of its investigation into criminal activity.
“Moreover, contrary to innumerable sensationalistic news coverage, the videos do not depict sex parties,” the letter reads.
“There are no hidden cameras, no orgies, no other celebrities participating, no subterranean tunnels, no children, and not so much as a suggestion of compulsion or violence.”
A spokesperson for the U.S. attorney refused to comment or respond to questions from the media.
Combs was arrested in September with allegations of racketeering, sex trafficking and transporting to participate in prostitution.
He has pleaded not guilty and is being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center while he awaits trial, set for May 5.
An Ex-Fling With A Revenge Plan?
The backlash for Combs started in November 2023 when his ex-longtime lover, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, claimed in an action against him of physical and sexual abuse and sex trafficking.
It was in the suit that the supposed “freak offs,” or sex parties, were first addressed. Ventura and Combs settled for an unknown sum a few days after.
Months later, CNN aired surveillance footage showed Combs hitting and pulling Ventura in the corridor of a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.
Combs then publicly apologized for the incident on social media and wrote, in part:
“My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I accept full responsibility for my conduct in that video.
I’m appalled. I was horrified then when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”
