A$AP  Rocky, throughout his felony trial, has been spotted coming and going from the Los Angeles courthouse silently multiple times.

On February 3, however, the 36-year-old made a brief statement as he walked into the courtroom in downtown Los Angeles.

Even though his statement was nothing regarding his trial, Rocky decided to at least deviate from his usual silent routine.

He took a moment to answer a question from a TMZ reporter regarding Kendrick Lamar’s recent Grammy wins.

At first glance, it looked like the rapper would remain silent, but he made the last-minute decision to support Kendrick with a single word: “Congratulations.”

Rocky was also nominated by the Recording Academy for the Best Video Award, which he lost to Kendrick.

Even though he wasn’t in attendance due to his trial, he was still disappointed his video for “Tailor Swift” didn’t pick up the award.

A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar have released a few songs together, including “1 Train” and “F*ckin’ Problems.”

In recent years, the two artists have shared their distaste for Drake, as Lamar famously made fun of Drake on “Like That” from the Future and Metro Boomin album, while Rocky attacked Drizzy on “Show of Hands,” the sequel album.

A$AP’s Felony Trial

A$AP Rocky broke his silence for the first time since his legal struggles started.

The 36-year-old rapper, known by his legal name Rakim Athelaston Mayers, is undergoing a contentious trial in Los Angeles.

This is the result of an incident involving his former friend A$AP Relli in Hollywood in November 2021.

He is presently on trial for two counts of felony assault with a semiautomatic weapon and might spend 24 years behind bars if found guilty on all counts.

A gag order was put in place to prevent the prosecution and defense from discussing the trial with the media, and the rapper has largely avoided talking to reporters outside the courthouse until his one-word compliment to Kendrick on February 3rd.

A$AP Rocky was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2025 for Best Music Video for his popular song “Tailor Swif.”

A broken heart emoji was tweeted by him during the award ceremony with the words “maybe next time.”

A$AP Rocky lost the Grammy for this exact category twice, once in 2014 for “F*****’ Problems” and again in 2016 for “L$D.”
