Billboard Names Doechii 2025 Woman of the Year

American rapper and songwriter Doechii (Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon) has been named Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year. The 27-year-old gained significant recognition this year.
Doechii is set to be honored as Billboard’s 2025 Woman of the Year at a prestigious event.
The Women in Music event will take place on March 29 at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California.
This is a big moment in her career.
She previously won the Rising Star award at the same event in 2023. She now joins Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande.
They are among the few artists who have progressed from Rising Star to Woman of the Year.
The night will be a celebration of her success and impact on the music industry.
Billboard’s Hannah Karp called Doechii a true trailblazer.
She said, “With her genre-blending sound, Doechii is redefining what it means to be a trailblazer.”
Since winning the 2023 Rising Star Award, she’s been getting a lot of attention for her unique style and talent.
On Feb. 2, Doechii made history as the second solo woman to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys, following Cardi B. She won for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.
She also became the third woman, after Lauryn Hill and Cardi B, to win an Oscar.
Billboard called her performance the best of the night. Alligator Bites Never Heal reached No. 14 on the Billboard 200.
Doechii had two songs in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 30. What It Is (Block Boy) and Denial Is a River both made the list.

Past winners include Karol G, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.
