Drake Holds Half the Spots on Multiple Billboard Charts
Drake and PartyNextDoor’s recent album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, is the biggest in America as it tops most of the ranks it appears on after debuting at first place on Billboard 200.
At 246,000 equivalent units, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U has the second-largest start of the year, following behind The Weeknd’s “Hurry Up Tomorrow.”
With $ome $exy $ongs 4 U debuting at the top of the Billboard 200, Drake ties the record for the most soloist leaders in the history of the chart, putting him on par with both Jay-Z and Taylor Swift.
On three separate Billboard charts this period, the album takes up more than half of the available space.
The R&B Streaming Songs list is where both Canadian hip-hop powerhouses do best, as their tracks take up 10 of the 15 spots on that list, making up 66% of the whole roster.
Additionally, songs from the album fill slightly more than half of the spots on the Hot R&B Songs and R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs lists.
The album debuts 18 songs on the 50-rung Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list this frame and sits in 20 slots on the Hot 100.
Drake’s Current Album in Comparison to Previous Works
In terms of chart-topping albums on Billboard’s list of the nation’s most popular albums, Drake is already among the most successful musicians in history.
Even though his current album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PartyNextDoor, topped the chart on its debut, it still doesn’t make the cut as one of his most impressive launches.
$ome $exy $ongs 4 U doesn’t fit in with many of Drake’s earlier albums in his discography, as the Canadian hip-hop artist’s most recent No. 1 on the Billboard 200 is notable for having the third-lowest opening figure out of his fourteen No. 1s.
Only two relatively recent projects, with lower totals than $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, have achieved No. 1 status on the Billboard 200.
“Nevermind,” his second-lowest, performed with 204,000 units in 2022 and with only 109,000 equivalent copies sold, “Care Package,” Drake’s full-length with the lowest first-week activity, peaked at number one during a slow week in 2019.
Without a doubt, one of Drake’s most impressive album sales is his 2016 album, “Views,” which made its debut at the top of the Billboard 200 with over a million units.
With that quantity, Views surpasses “Scorpion,” his 2018 album and nearest rival in the catalog, by over a quarter of a million units.
