Jane Doe Admits Jay Z Didn’t Sexually Assault Her
Jay-Z has launched legal action against a woman who previously accused him of sexual assault, and the lawsuit also names attorneys Tony Buzbee and David Fortney as defendants.
The anonymous accuser, identified as Jane Doe, had filed allegations against Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs in December, claiming both men assaulted her at an MTV VMAs afterparty in 2000.
According to court documents, Jay-Z’s legal team describes the allegations as “false, malicious, strategically, and tactically calculated,” suggesting the timing was intended to cause maximum damage to the rapper’s reputation.
The original lawsuit alleged the assault occurred when the accuser was just 13 years old. Both Jay-Z and Diddy strongly denied any wrongdoing from the beginning.
By February, Jane Doe voluntarily dismissed her lawsuit with prejudice, a legal designation that means she cannot refile the same claims in the future.
Jay-Z’s countersuit accuses the defendants of “malicious prosecution, abuse of process, civil conspiracy, and defamation,” as his legal team alleges the claims were financially motivated.
According to newly filed documents, Jane Doe allegedly admitted to representatives that Jay-Z did not sexually assault her, with the lawsuit suggesting her attorneys pressured her to continue with false accusations.
Legal Battle Intensifies
According to private investigator Charlotte Henderson’s affidavit, the accuser admitted that Buzbee “pushed” her to include Jay-Z in the lawsuit.
When Henderson allegedly met with the lady at her house in Alabama, the accuser allegedly said, “Buzbee brought Jay-Z into it” in order to strengthen the allegation.
The affidavit claims that although Jane Doe admitted Jay-Z attended the party, she claimed he was not responsible for any assaults.
When asked about signing an affidavit confirming this, she reportedly asked, “But how does this help me?”
The lawsuit further claims that Jane Doe sent an extortion demand letter to Jay-Z, something his legal representatives allege Buzbee persuaded her to maintain false allegations for mutual financial gain.
Buzbee has fired back against these claims, calling Jay-Z’s lawsuit “another attempt to intimidate and bully” his client. He insists the accuser “stands by her claims” despite dropping the lawsuit.
In a strongly worded statement, Buzbee accused Jay-Z’s investigators of harassment. He claimed they “repeatedly harassed, threatened, and harassed this poor woman for weeks,” attempting to force a recantation.
In response to the quotes that were credited to Jane Doe in Jay-Z’s complaint, he denied them, claiming that the investigators “spoke to someone who isn’t Jane Doe” or that the remarks were “completely made up.”
Henderson, the private investigator who provided the statement, claims that she was not hired by Jay-Z or his legal team, making it unclear who is footing the bill.
As the matter escalates into a highly publicized legal battle, Jay-Z requests a jury trial and specified damages.
