Jay Z Sues Jane Doe And Her Lawyer

Jay Z, filed a defamation suit on Monday against a woman from Alabama who claimed he had raped her when she was thirteen.

According to Jay Z’s lawsuit, the civil lawsuit that has since been withdrawn by the Jane Doe was meant “to inflict maximum pain and suffering on Mr. Carter.”

Additionally, the lawsuit filed by Mr. Carter also named the woman’s lawyers, David Fortney and Tony Buzbee.

Jay Z claimed that these lawyers were soullessly motivated by greed, in abject disregard of the truth and the most fundamental precepts of human decency.

Jay-Z, who has been known for being one of the most private individuals in hip-hop history, could have had that undone by the 2024 sexual assault accusations against him alongside Diddy, who has faced multiple claims in the past 12 months.

Jane Doe’s claim that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually abused her at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty when she was thirteen was denied continuously by both men.

Jay Z claimed that the three (Jane Doe, Tony Buzbee, and David Fortney) “conspired” to extort him by telling a “completely fabricated” story.

Jane Doe withdrew her case last month after a series of inconsistent stories, but that didn’t satisfy Jay Z.

As a result of the lawsuit, the rapper believes that his reputation and family have suffered, so he and his legal team are seeking real and punitive damages.

The Details of the Lawsuit

According to the new lawsuit, the false claims from Jane Doe, Buzbee, and Forney caused a $20 million loss for Jay-Z’s company, “Roc Nation.”

The rapper specifically accused Tony Buzbee of circulating false information and looking for dubious methods to pressure him into making the payment.

The lawsuit claims that “Doe has now voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr. Carter that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just a false, malicious story.”

It adds that the Jane Doe “has admitted that Mr. Carter did not assault her and that indeed it was Buzbee himself who pushed her to go forward with the false narrative of the assault by Mr. Carter in order to leverage a maximum payday.”

To this, Tony Buzbee responded, saying, “Shawn Carter’s investigators have repeatedly harassed, threatened, and harangued this poor woman for weeks, trying to intimidate her and make her recant her story.”

“She hasn’t and won’t. These same group of investigators have been caught on tape offering to pay people to sue me and my firm,” he continues.

“After speaking with Jane Doe today, it appears that the quotes attributed to her in the lawsuit are completely made up, or they spoke to someone who isn’t Jane Doe,” he says.

“This is just another attempt to intimidate and bully this poor woman that we will deal with in due course. We won’t be bullied or intimidated by frivolous cases,” Tony concluded.
