ChatGPT should be allowed as homework tool for Kids
ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that uses natural language processing to generate humanlike conversational dialogue.
It was created by OpenAI, a research company in San Francisco, and uses a transformer algorithm to learn how to generate text.
In an interview with the BBC, Peter Kyle was asked if it was okay for children to use ChatGPT as a tool to help with homework as the UK attempts to become a world leader in AI.
The UK tech secretary said that as long as the students were under close supervision and it was being used properly, using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool to assist with homework was acceptable.
He also compared some of the concerns about using AI in the classroom to those raised during the advent of electronic calculators.
When asked if it was the correct approach, he added that children and adolescents acquiring the necessary skills to utilise modern technology and incorporate it into their educational journey must be ensured.
The exposure of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots in recent years has sparked concerns about the educational system in schools and universities.
This is because an increasing number of students are solely depending on these tools to do their assignments and pass tests.
However, Mr. Kyle says that there are outlier talent kids who the use of AI chatbots would really “turbo-charge” and give them a challenge they’re not getting in other places.
He also stated that the key thing to get right is to help people use ChatGPT and other AI chatbots but not let them be a replacement for the expertise of teaching.
The AI Opportunities Action Plan
The AI Opportunity Action Plan outlined by Prime Minister Keir Starmer enables the vision for UK to become the world leader in artificial intelligence and revive the country’s sluggish economy.
This Action Plan, led by Matt Clifford CBE, is a roadmap for the UK government to capture opportunities using AI to enhance growth and positivity for citizens.
The Stermer’s Administration Ministers claim that if the AI is “fully embraced”, it could bring £47 billion to the economy every year.
Even though the specifics of the AI plans are still unclear beyond rumours of a “sovereign AI team”, it’s clear the Labour Party is adopting a different stance from that of its Conservative predecessors.
