Since its founding in 1927, Volvo has established a solid reputation for safety, cutting-edge engineering, and classic Scandinavian style in its units.

The Sweden based automaker has transformed over the years from a niche producer to a high-end automaker, providing a wide range of automobiles that appeal to professionals, families, and luxury car lovers.

With 763,389 cars shipped last year, or 8% more than the year before, Volvo achieved record sales for the second year in a row, the most since the company’s inception 98 years ago.

With its operational profit of SEK 2 billion usd, up 6% from 2023, Volvo’s strong sales year saw the brand’s revenue reach around $37 billion for the first time.

Despite this strong outcome, the Geely-owned company anticipates a “turbulent 2025 due to challenging market conditions.”

With plans to introduce five new or updated models this year and a stronger emphasis on hybrid powertrains, Volvo is still moving forward.

It is completing an enhanced range that includes new items and portfolio enhancements to remain competitive.

Jim Rowan, the president and CEO of Volvo, spoke about the future at the conference that followed the full-year report.

On February 10, the company’s tough version of its smallest electric crossover, the EX30 Cross Country, will be released.

More significantly, the ES90, Sweden’s first electric car, will be available this year.

The Swedish automaker also disclosed that two current models, most likely the Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90, will receive major updates in 2025.

Volvo’s New Products to Launch This Year

Volvo intends to introduce five new or updated models this year and will continue to invest in this well-rounded lineup.

The first will be the new ES90 sedan, which will make its debut in March as the second vehicle to use the SPA2 platform following the EX90.

Another is the EX30 Cross Country, which is anticipated to be a more durable variant of the brand’s smallest EV and will start shipping later this year.

For the China market, Volvo is creating a brand new long-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and it’s unknown if this will be a brand-new car or a variation of a current model.

Geely’s Compact Modular Architecture, which supports the plug-in hybrid Lynk & Co. 07 and 08, may serve as the foundation for the new vehicle.

The platform is also used in the construction of the Polestar 2, Volvo XC40, and C40 (now known as the EC40).

Volvo claims that this model is made for China, but it might eventually be sold worldwide.
