Legendary rapper Too Short, whose birth name is Todd Anthony Shaw, was hit by tragedy on Wednesday, 29th January morning, when his older brother, Wayne Shaw, was shot and killed.

Investigators reported that several individuals attempted to smash a car into an industrial building on 49th Avenue close to East 12th Street in Oakland, which led to the shooting at around 7 a.m.

“The suspects arrived at the location,” stated Lt. Gloria Beltran of the Oakland Police Department.

“They attempted to force their way into the property. While they were attempting their way in, the victim stepped out, was confronted by the suspects. The suspects fired several rounds at the victim.” He speculated.

When local authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered Shaw, 61, heavily wounded by gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital but was declared dead shortly after.

According to KTVU Fox, Shaw was running a marijuana grow house and reportedly spent the night at the grow house.

The police stated that the suspects fled in an unidentified car, and they are unsure if the heist was random or if he was the target.

The targeted building and Wayne’s relationship to the property are being investigated.

What We Know About Wayne Shaw

Wayne Shaw is one person whose name frequently appears in relation to Too Short, the renowned Oakland, California, rapper.

Despite Too Short’s well-known impact on hip hop, his brother Wayne has been a more enigmatic character, pursuing a life that stands in stark contrast to his sibling’s prominent profession.

Even though Wayne Shaw hasn’t pursued the same level of fame as Too Short, fans of the rapper’s legacy are nonetheless interested in his life and relationship with him.

Too Short, a pioneer of West Coast hip-hop, was born and raised in Oakland. “I love my Blackness, I love my family—on my mother’s side and my father’s side,” he said to Complex, addressing the impact of his family on his worldview.

“We have every complexion: light, curly, dark, everything. You can’t have blood in your body that makes you better than someone else.” He stated

Short has also talked about the idea of violence and death in Oakland throughout his career, basing his breakthrough album, Life Is… Too Short, on this very notion.

“So much death in the Oakland streets, Am I gonna live ’til next week? Will I get shot by a dope fiend, trying to get high, trying to steal my ring?.” He said in Cusswords.

Too Short is yet to give a public statement concerning the death of his elder brother.
