Jay Z and Alicia Keys Cancel Writing New Song for World Cup
Alicia Keys and Jay-Z have reportedly decided that they will not be writing a World Cup anthem after all.
The New York pair, who recently performed their hit single Empire State of Mind together at Madison Square Gardens, had planned to write an anthem after Alicia confirmed that she would perform at the World Cup Kick Off Concert in June.
However, Alicia announced today that they have scrapped the idea, as they simply don’t know enough about the game!
Keys told The Sun: “If we did a record about soccer it would be obvious we didn’t know much more about the sport than who David Beckham is.”
The concert, which takes place on June 10th, will also have performances from Cheryl Cole, Black Eyed Peas and Shakira.
