Female rapper Missy Elliott set the Hip-Hop music world on fire in 1997. Her debut music video and song, “The Rain,” were different. The music was catchy. Her image was nothing that was really seen before. She was a big girl with all the dance moves and had bars. Fast forward to now, 22-years-later, and Black does not crack. She still looks young, has the dance moves, and ultra-creative. Missy is something the rap game needs consistently at all times. A female rapper who is not spitting strap raps. Sensing the void, the “Hot Boy,” rapper announced new album “Iconology” last night and released it, while we were all sleeping.

“Iconology” Album Cover Artwork
Beyond the announcement, the creativity is already being displayed. The ‘Iconology” album cover is ‘supadupa fly’ and original. It features “ME” with a grand hair weave, flowing across the cover. The braided hair spells out her name, “Missy.”
Not only is the album cover a true piece of art, fit for any fan’s wall, but it’s also a status symbol. Elliot has ascended to heights where she can proudly flaunt afro-american culture and black hairstyles, that many women in society felt uncomfortable with the past decade. Discrimination is said to be the root for many women not being able to confidently flaunt such hairstyles, eventhough white women have appropriated such parts of Afro-American culture. Power play!
