Harmonize left Wasafi in 2019. Five years later, he’s still one of the most celebrated bongo artists giving fans back-to-back hits

Five years can mark a significant transformation in the world of music, especially for artists navigating the dynamic African music scene. Tanzanian bongo flava musician Harmonize’s departure from Wasafi Record Label has significantly impacted fans and the bongo music industry.

Harmonize, also known as Rajab Abdul Kahali, rose to fame due to his unique sound that combines traditional Swahili rhythms with contemporary influences. Known for infectious hits like “Kwangwaru” and “Amelowa,” Harmonize quickly gained a massive following across East Africa and beyond.

His style resonates with many, blending romance, dance, and the vibrant essence of Tanzanian culture. The artist’s charm and dedication set him apart, culminating in his decision to leave Wasafi, which had propelled him to stardom.

Freedom Came With Wasafi Exit

His departure from Wasafi was a pivotal moment, stirring considerable buzz within the industry. Harmonize had initially joined the label founded by Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, where he found considerable success.

However, after some time, he sought independence and creative freedom, leading to the establishment of his own label, Konde Gang. This move was not just about leaving Wasafi; it was about asserting himself as a solo artist capable of steering his destiny.

Konde Gang emerged as a platform for Harmonize to express his creativity unboundedly. Under this label, he has continued to produce chart-topping music and has signed other promising artists, expanding his influence in the music landscape.

The label’s focus on promoting Bongo Flava while also exploring diverse genres has helped it carve out a niche in the fiercely competitive market.

Relationship With His Former Boss Diamond Platnumz

The relationship between Harmonize, Konde Gang, and Wasafi continues to be a topic of interest. While there was initial speculation about rivalry, both parties have demonstrated growth and evolution in their respective paths.

Wasafi, under Diamond Platnumz’s leadership, has maintained its status as a powerhouse in East African music. The label adapted by nurturing new talent, such as Zuchu and Lava Lava, ensuring its relevance despite Harmonize’s exit. Diamond’s strategic moves and continuous innovation have kept Wasafi at the forefront.

In terms of progress, both Wasafi and Konde Gang have flourished over the past five years. Wasafi launched successful collaborations, hosted major events like Wasafi Festival, and expanded its brand internationally. Meanwhile, Konde Gang has seen Harmonize solidify his position with international tours and collaborations, further amplifying his reach.

By creating distinct identities, both entities have brought something unique to the table while maintaining their roots in Tanzanian music culture.
