Busta Rhymes Given Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award
Busta Rhymes received the prestigious President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring his contributions to the community, hip-hop, and humanitarian efforts.
Busta disclosed on Thursday, January 30, that he was one of the select few selected to receive the 2025 award in an Instagram post.
The post featured a graphic that noted he had been chosen to receive the honor “for his contributions in the community as an international hip-hop, recording artist, music, business entrepreneur, thespian, and humanitarian.”
“THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WON’T EVER STOP!! IT’S JUST NO WAY TO EXPLAIN HOW AMAZING THE BLESSINGS CONTINUE TO BE!!” He said in a caption under the post.
“THANKS TO @MyHCU.Education AND MY BROTHER KING @amadeuspbm I HAVE ALSO BEEN SELECTED AS A RECIPIENT FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD!!!” He continued.
“IT JUST KEEPS GETTING MORE AND MORE INCREDIBLE EVERYDAY!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED FOR MAKING THIS POSSIBLE!! THE MOST HIGH IS THE GREATEST!!!!” He ended.
Although he did not provide any other information, it seems that he was selected as the final class of honorees under the Biden/Harris administration; however, this has not been verified.
This comes two weeks after the rapper was charged with three counts of assault after he allegedly retaliated against his assistant for using his phone while at work.
The Alleged Assault
Rapper Busta Rhymes, whose legal name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., was charged with three counts of assault on 17th January this year after he allegedly retaliated against his assistant for using his phone while at work.
The incident was said to have occurred on the 10th of January, inside a luxe condominium complex, J Condominium, in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
According to police, Rhymes, 52, repeatedly punched the 50-year-old in the face after a verbal dispute, causing swelling in his left eye.
Rhymes handed himself in Tuesday night at the 84th precinct in Brooklyn, where he received a desk appearance ticket, which requires him to appear in criminal court for an arraignment.
Dashiel Gables, the claimed victim of the hip-hop singer, told The Post Thursday over the phone that his attorney advised him not to speak to the media.
“Maybe later. Maybe in the future. I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry.” he added.
Busta Rhymes’ arraignment has been set for Feb. 3, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
