Shakira Cancels Colombia Concert

Sharika just started her first world tour in seven years on the 11th of February this year, naming it the “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” after her new album.

The tour, which is expected to run till the 16th of November with almost 50 performances scheduled, has seen the cancellation of a second event in less than two weeks.

On Friday, February 21, “Páramo Presenta,” the firm in charge of Shakira’s tour for the shows in Columbia, stated on X that the event scheduled for February 24 at Atanasio Girardot Stadium in Medellín had been canceled.

According to a Forbes Colombia report, its cancellation is due to safety concerns as the stage’s roof was broken during installation, endangering the lives of the 48-year-old artist, her team, and the fans.

In acknowledgment of the public’s displeasure, Páramo Presenta made it known that they were working together with Shakira’s team in the hopes of rescheduling the performance.

Shakira, who was eager to perform again after overcoming her previous health issues, also took to her social media platform to apologize to her fans for the cancellations, especially those who had to travel for it.

She made sure to let her fans know how heartbroken she was about the setback and promised to set up new dates for both postponed gigs.

Shakira’s Tour Setbacks

Shakira’s ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ tour has already experienced several setbacks within two weeks of its start, as the recent cancellation isn’t the first one.

The singer, who was supposed to perform on February 16th in Lima, Peru, was in the hospital for an intestinal ailment a few days prior to the performance.

This forced her to postpone the performance, as she informed her fans on Saturday, February 15, stating on X that she was admitted to the hospital.

“I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,” the post read.

Following the announcement, different social media platforms were flooded with lots of support from fans of the international superstar, wishing her a quick recovery.

Her official website states that she will be performing in Bogota on February 28 and 29, and the back-to-back cancellations have caused supporters to worry about possible difficulties in her tour itinerary.

However, they are still holding out hope that the remainder of her much-anticipated tour won’t be interrupted by any further issues.
