Tyga Mourns His Mom Who Died at 53

Micheal Ray Stevenson, popularly known as Tyga, shared an emotional Instagram post revealing the devastating death of his mother, Pasionaye Nguyen.
Pasionaye Nguyen passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 53, and yesterday, Friday, February 21, Tyga broke the news to his followers in a heartbreaking tribute that left everyone feeling his anguish.
The “Rack City” artist attributed his mother as the “best and most supportive” person in his life, showing that the two were really close.
Despite not being famous herself, born in Los Angeles on September 11, 1971, to an African-American father and a Vietnamese mother, Pasionaye was the driving force behind Tyga’s success.
She didn’t have it all easy growing up and had to raise Tyga alone after his father, Michael Stevenson, was given a life sentence.
She cleaned houses and did nails, taking on even odd jobs so as to put food on the table for her son.
She had difficult times too when Anthony Wayne Headen, her husband until 2016, was charged with murder in connection with a fatal Palmdale vehicle accident.
Tyga has always credited his mom for his success, and her impact could be heard in his 2013 “Dad’s Letter,” where he talks about growing up without a dad.
He got her name permanently inked, and though one of the pictures Tyga shared showing Pasionaye in a hospital bed on January 11 suggests she may have been ill, the precise reason for her death is still unknown.
Tyga’s Tribute To Mum
Tyga exposed his pain towards the death of his mom with words that pierced deeply in a post on Instagram, alongside a slideshow of pictures with her over the years.
“I been trying to understand and process why God takes the most meaningful and most beautifulest people away from us. But I know I’ll never get an answer that will fill the emptiness in my heart. Can’t imagine life without you by my side,” he started out.
“You were the best and most supportive person in my life, you always made things better when I felt at my lowest and worst. I would trade anything just to be able to be with you again I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.” he continued.
“and I can’t wait for the day until we’re together again I’ll see you soon and save me a spot right next to you in paradise,” he added.
“I Love you forever mom and I’ll do my best to celebrate you with every moment that I have left. Pasionaye Nicole Nguyen 9/11/71- 1/18/25 You took one of your best angels back GOD. I hope you know that.” he concluded his post.
Artists from all over the world, including 2 Chainz, Katy Perry, Arvil Lavigne, Pusha T, and many more, sent heartfelt condolences and encouraging remarks in his comment section.
