The once-promising musical partnership between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign has officially crumbled, as their collaborative project, “Vultures,” now stands incomplete.

West provided shocking information about the fallout in a stunning interview with DJ Akademiks, which was released on Sunday, March 30th.

According to West, Ty’s record label threatened to drop his artists if he maintained their collaboration. This ultimatum forced Ty’s hand.

“Ty put up the tweet before we landed,” West explained to Akademiks. The post in question publicly distanced Ty from West’s inflammatory remarks.

West said that their collaborations increased Ty’s career by “137x”. Their collaboration had previously produced great success in the music industry.

The “Vultures” album series, which debuted in 2024, was planned to be a trilogy, but only two chapters were released before the relationship ended.

Their collaborative effort “Carnival” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. “Vultures 1” also topped the Billboard 200 album chart.

Ty Dolla $ign addressed the situation on Instagram in February. “I do not condone ANY form of hate speech against ANYBODY,” he wrote.

The comment was accompanied by emojis symbolizing various skin tones. This visual focus underscored Ty’s dedication to diversity.

Following this revelation, Ty deleted all West-related stuff from his social media platforms. This digital cleansing represented a full professional separation.

Industry Implications and Future Outlook

Ty Dolla $ign’s EZMNY Records, launched in 2021, entered a joint venture with Motown Records in 2022. This partnership represented a career milestone.

Leon Thomas, the first artist signed under this collaboration, currently enjoys success. His hit “Mutt” occupies a spot on the Billboard charts.

A remix featuring Chris Brown was released last week. This success underscores what Ty might have been protecting with his decision.

West’s recent controversies included praise for Adolf Hitler and Nazi declarations. He also attempted to sell swastika-emblazoned merchandise on his Yeezy website.

Shopify subsequently shut down West’s Yeezy website. The Anti-Defamation League condemned his statements alongside several celebrities.

Music executive Lyor Cohen penned an open letter to West. “Your voice and influence carry a significant responsibility,” Cohen warned.

Before this controversy, West and Ty had collaborated on tracks like “Fade” from “The Life of Pablo.” Their musical chemistry had proven successful.

An unreleased collaboration with Tyga was previewed earlier this month. This suggests additional music was planned before the partnership dissolved.

West deactivated his X account on Monday following weekend tirades. His posts contained antisemitic, misogynistic, and homophobic content.

The music industry continues to watch this situation closely, as both artists’ future projects will inevitably be shaped by this high-profile separation.
