Basketball legend Michael Jordan loves golf almost as much as he loves basketball. To satisfy his passion, he built his own ultra-private golf course called The Grove XXIII. Located in Hobe Sound, Florida, this exclusive club has become one of the most desirable and secretive sports destinations in the world.

The club operates strictly on an invite-only basis. Jordan built the course to escape the slow play and crowded fairways of traditional country clubs. Even if a person has millions of dollars, they cannot simply buy their way into the club. They must receive a personal invitation from Jordan himself.

Reports indicate that the cost to join this elite inner circle is staggering. The initial membership initiation fee costs a cool $250,000. After paying this massive entry fee, members must also pay monthly dues of around $20,000 to maintain their access to the facility.

The physical facility itself matches the steep price tag. It cost around $15 million to construct the entire property, which features a massive 15,000-square-foot clubhouse. The club is highly exclusive, keeping its total membership list to fewer than 100 to 150 people.

Interestingly, Jordan designed the course layout to give himself a competitive advantage against visiting professional golfers. Renowned designer Bobby Weed built the course so that long drives—which pros typically hit—are more likely to land in the deep rough, while shorter drives find the fairway perfectly.

The club also features high-tech luxury, including custom drones that deliver premium food and drinks directly to golfers anywhere on the course. While the invite list continues to grow slightly, the club remains an ultra-expensive sanctuary designed perfectly for the sporting elite.
