Wade Hamption high school basketball team had the perfect season. Not only do you call it the perfect season figurately but also literally. Completing the season with a 29-0 season, the Wade Hampton High School Generals won the South Carolina 3A basketball championship title.
“Upstate on deck! Anytime a Greenville team wins a state basketball title, I’m excited. Those guys played great and Brian Steele was like the Carolina Mamba out there. Congrats to Wade Hampton,” said C.KHiD when bringing this story for the website.
The 2011 Wade Hampton High School basketball team had an incredible season indeed. The team defeated Darlington High School in the South Carolina State 3A basketball finals to certify a perfect winning season.
The entire team played an amazing game, leading by over 10 points in the second quarter. From that point on, the team fed senior Brian Steele who had the hot hand during the game. Steele would accept the teams feeds and continue his scoring rampage. Closing the game with scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds, Brian Steele put the ‘cherry on top’ by dunking on a Darlington High school defender on a fast break.
Wade Hampton Genearl’s perfect season was the first in the school’s history. The last South Carolina 3A basketball title the team won was in 1971.
