Lexus Unveils The Surf LX Concept SUV
On the 28th of January, Lexus announced an extended multi-year collaboration with the World Surf League (WSL).
This new multi-year partnership comes along with a new concept vehicle, a one-of-one SUV called the Surf LX.
The WSL Awards, Pipe Pro, Trestle Pro, US Open of Surfing, and WSL Finals are the five major League events that Lexus will title partner in 2025 as part of the new deal.
The Surf LX is a concept that the Japanese luxury brand introduced to the Pipe Pro World Surf League tournament in Oahu, Hawaii, this week.
The one-off was created to commemorate and develop the relationship between the carmaker and the organization that oversees professional surfing.
“Lexus and the WSL are united by a shared drive for innovation, excellence, and performance,” said Lexus marketing media manager Lisa McQueen.
“This expanded partnership will allow us to elevate the fan experience to new heights, creating amazing moments for the surf community.” She added.
“We are kicking off the 2025 season alongside Lexus at Pipe and couldn’t be more excited to continue to build on this partnership with Lexus for years to come,” said Cherie Cohen, chief revenue officer, World Surf League.
What the Surf LX Concept Entails
As its name suggests, the Surf LX was created with the surf in mind and is ideal for beach life with its matte blue body, white roof, and black trim in a color scheme inspired by the seaside.
According to pro surfer and Lexus ambassador Griffin Colapinto, surfing is all about being in tune with your environment and enjoying the ride, much like what Lexus has achieved with the Surf LX.
He adds that the vehicle isn’t just an SUV, but it’s made for adventure, with the power and versatility any surfer could ever want or need.
This design study offers some functional improvements in addition to aesthetic ones, like the car’s 20-inch wheels that have been beautifully finished in gray.
Additionally, those rollers have 33-inch tires, which provide plenty of traction on almost any surface, including beach sand.
A unique exterior cage that extends from the SUV’s A-pillars back to the roof and down along the backmost pillars is another advantage of this concept car.
This makes it an excellent spot to transport goods or simply relax and watch the dawn or sunset, either before or after a day of surfing.
The trunk has been completely customized for surfers, including a surfboard rack, a built-in Dometic fridge, a turf changing mat, a waxing table, and slide-out luggage storage.
With ventilated sections to store necessary equipment, such as towels, sunscreen, wax, and wetsuits, the trunk stays odor-free and well-organized.
Regretfully, it appears that the Surf LX will only be available once. However, Lexus has taken advantage of previous concepts to showcase new features and add-on components.
